On 18 Oct 2008, while leading a search party in a village in Rajouri (J&K), came under heavy fire from a terrorist hideout. Eliminated one terrorist, then — despite a grievous abdominal injury — eliminated a second before being evacuated. Awarded the Shaurya Chakra.
