On 25 July 2012, carried out an emergency casualty evacuation under fire from M23 rebels at Kiwanja COB, flying an unarmed Cheetah helicopter to save a wounded soldier. Awarded the Sena Medal (Gallantry); also holds a Mention-in-Despatches (2003).
