Major Rajiv Kumar Dahita, SC, SM (P) The Sikh Regiment / 16th Battalion, The Rashtriya Rifles Commissioned into the Sikh Regiment. Posted to 16 RR in the Poonch–Surankote belt — Romeo Force country, the same ground that later opened into Operation Hill Kaka / Sarp Vinash. January 2002, Poonch Sector. He displayed conspicuous gallantry in contact with terrorists. For that action the President awarded the Shaurya Chakra. He did not leave the fight. In a subsequent operation in the Northern Sector he went forward again and laid down his life. Republic Day 2004. Sena Medal (Gallantry), posthumous. Two decorations. One life. Nische kar apni jeet karon.
